One of the reasons people research and compare homes in the Prescott Arizona real estate market is their desire to own a vacation property in Northern AZ.
A vacation home in Prescott makes for one of the best ways baby boomers can invest their money when looking at real estate.
David Lereah, a chief economist for the National Association of Realtors, has recently stated that “baby boomers are continuing to buy vacation properties and homes as a lifestyle choice”. They have the money to invest and they are choosing to spend it by investing in vacation homes.
In 2005, there was a 16.9% increase in sales of vacation properties from the year before. 1.02 million vacation properties were sold that year. Although other parts of the real estate market may be slowing down, vacation homes were not affected.
Vacation Properties in Prescott
Prescott’s geographic location in the United States, it’s climate, it’s access to activities, scenery and National Parks and Forests, makes Prescott vacation properties and homes an ideal candidate for consideration.
Prescott has earned a position on the Dozen Distinctive Destinations of 2006.
Northern Arizona is situated in a very beautiful part of the country. For those of us who live here year round, there is the sense of being on vacation full time.
When we drive to work, it’s not in bumper to bumper traffic. When we go hiking or do our daily exercise consisting of a walk, it’s in an environment that feels like the edge of the forest. Well, that’s probably because Prescott is surrounded on two sized by the Prescott National Forest.
It’s not uncommon to get into the family car and drive to the Grand Canyon for a day trip. We have Sedona and Flagstaff to the north and east, each well under 90 minutes of drive time, and both which offer us a different feel for the northern Arizona area.
Flagstaff and Sedona, although beautiful and unique in their environments, also have their downsides. Firstly, Sedona is very expensive. I’d encourage you to visit Sedona when you are in Prescott. You’ll find yourself in a city that is quite unlike any other. However what you end up getting for your real estate dollar doesn’t even come close when compared to Prescott. The other notable about Sedona is that it doesn’t have the charm and old west feeling that you will experience here in Prescott. Prescott’s residents are genuinely friendlier.
Regarding Flagstaff. It’s too cold. If you like cold weather and relate the cold to vacation property, then Flag is the place for you, however, if you prefer a mild climate, then Prescott will meet your needs.
