One of the greatest things about buying a home in the Prescott Arizona real estate market for people who enjoy fishing is that you are literally ten minutes from 3 or 4 great places fishing spots in town.

I promised my son that when his grandpa came to visit us up here in Prescott, the three of us would go fishing. This photo shows Josh and grandpa standing at the edge of the main pier trolling for the next big catch.

My son and I started fishing in Prescott last year when he turned five. We quickly discovered that of all the lakes to go fishing, our favorite “fishing hole” is Watson Lake.

The beauty of owning a home in Prescott is that you can grab your rod and reel and a tacklebox, walk out your front door, get in your vehicle and cast your line into one of the nearby lakes in about 15 minutes.

If you’re an avid fisherman and have the proper gear there’s a really good chance you can come to shore with a couple of really nice eight pound bass. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, and quite frankly, it was on more than one occasion.

Since we’re not expert fishermen and we don’t own a boat and trolling motor, our access to some of the more exclusive “fishing spots” sprinkled throughout the lake is limited.

We did have great luck all last summer catching and releasing little largemouth bass almost every time we went fishing.

Standing on the pier (visible in both photos) gives a person access to smaller fish, often anywhere from a few ounces to a few pounds.

All in all, although most of the fish my son pulled in were under a pound, it only made our father/son bonding time more exciting as my son would reel in a fish.

Watson Lake

The city of Prescott has been really upgrading the Watson Lake situation and I can’t state clearly enough about how wonderful of a time you will have there if you decide to visit Prescott.

Whether you spend a day or even a few hours at Watson lake while looking for a home in Prescott, make sure that you set aside some time to experience it

Watson Lake is four miles from downtown Prescott, just north on Highway 89.

Activities include boating, fishing, swimming, wind surfing, hiking, horseshoes and camping.

Since it’s only a few minutes from town, you can get to any of the local markets to purchase any necessities you need if you are going to spend the night camping.

As far as features go, there’s two boat ramps, drinking water, modern restrooms, areas for picnicing and showers.

Many people will visit Prescott prior to purchasing real estate in our beautiful Northern Arizona town. Good news is that there are many great Prescott motels, hotels, bed and breakfasts and other places to stay.

Most real estate websites fail to assist their online visitors with listings of places to stay while in town. Or, if they do provide a list of places to stay, it’s very much a short list.

The following link will present you with most, but not all of the hotels, bed and breakfasts, motels, resorts and other overnight arrangements available in Prescott.

Prescott Arizona hotels, motels, resorts, and bed and breakfasts – the following link will open in a new window.

Rollover and click on the yellow boxes with the red squares for the name of the hotel / b&b and click for full details. They will reveal addresses, telephone numbers and prices.

You will technically be able to begin your reservation process from this page.

Depending on your taste, budget and dining requirements, there's a very, very good chance that you are going to find what you are hoping to find when it comes to restaurants, bars, brew pubs, eateries or any other type of dining or drinking establishment that is available.

One thing that Prescott isn’t short on — in addition to great Arizona real estate — are great places to find something to eat or drink.

We’ve got dozens of cuisines to satisfy almost any palette. And when it comes to great places to get a drink, or have a cocktail — c’mon, this is Prescott Arizona.

Over 400 establishments to wine and dine

Depending on your taste, budget and dining requirements, there’s a very, very good chance that you are going to find what you are hoping to find when it comes to restaurants, bars, brew pubs, eateries or any other type of dining or drinking establishment that is available.

Prescott has approximately over 400 places to eat and drink that are within a one hour drive of the downtown square.

Chances are that you aren’t going to need to go further then the city limits for what you want, however, this is Northern Arizona and our sister cities like Sedona and Flagstaff, might take you an hour or so to get to. And they also might be what you are looking for in a romantic getaway that doesn’t take a day to get to.

You want it rough like the old west was and can still be? Go to Whiskey Row, where they’ve been serving Arizona’s toughest customers at the historic Palace Bar and Restaurant for over 100 years. Matt’s Saloon, the Birdcage and a bunch of other rough joints are on that strip of street, too.

Looking for something more romantic? Well, there’s the Prescott Mining Company that’s located about 5 minutes north of downtown Prescott.

Could you go for $2 pints of microbrewery delight? Check out the Prescott Brewing Company, directly across the street from Whiskey Row.

Download, view and print over 400 eating/drinking establishments in the Prescott tri-city area (You will be asked if you want to save or open a 4 page 200kb PDF file). We encourage you to print it out and bring it with you when you come to visit.

Let’s get a little more specific about the food and drinks

The following is a list of types of eating and drinking establishments that you will find in the Prescott tri-city area.

American

Bistros

Brew Pubs

Many people who visit for recreation, or to research real estate listings first hand, find the ambiance and small town charm of Prescott Arizona wonderfully appealing — and rightfully so.

“Everybody’s Hometown”, Prescott’s nickname, offers its residents a way of life that is slightly separated from the rat race many people who live in major cities have found themselves caught in.

With an excellent quality of life, a remarkable four-season climate and small-town atmosphere, Prescott has become a place that many hope to find themselves living and working in.

Residents enjoy the benefits of small-town living while taking advantage of many positive amenities of large metropolitan areas. Very low crime rates, easy commuting a full range of house types and prices, excellent air quality and a variety of recreational choices all combine to create a low-stress lifestyle.

Those who are parents of small children will find a city
